Content Protection
Monitoring, detection, and proactive security
Learn how our advanced protection services continuously monitor the internet for unauthorized use of your content and automatically take action to protect your intellectual property.
Basics
Protection is the subscription side of the service: you register the works you care about, a site, a body of writing, images, a brand domain, and we scan on a schedule for copies. Detections land in your dashboard with the evidence attached, you confirm what is real, and one click turns a detection into a managed takedown case using your plan's included quota. It is the difference between finding theft when you happen to look for it and finding it because something was watching.
Takedowns are per-case work on URLs you already know about: $49–$199 one-time, all four delivery channels. Protection is the subscription that watches for new copies automatically, keeps the evidence flowing, and includes a monthly quota of those same managed cases at no extra cost. Most people start with a takedown for the fire in front of them and add protection when they are tired of finding fires by accident.
Monitoring
It depends on the plan, and the numbers are the real configuration, not marketing: Starter scans weekly, Pro and Business scan daily, and domain/trademark assets are additionally watched every hour through Certificate Transparency logs, lookalike registrations get caught the moment a certificate is issued. You can also trigger a scan on demand from the asset page (rate-limited so a trigger-happy afternoon cannot burn your search quota). The free tier includes one scan per asset to show you what the reports look like.
Content Types
Text and writing (phrases and excerpts from articles, books, course material), images and artwork (matched by perceptual fingerprint, so resized or recompressed copies still match), videos and music (discovered through search by title, keywords, and descriptions), software, games, and brand assets like domains and trademarks (via the daily CT watch). If it can be described with words or hashed as an image, it can be registered.
Detection
Two mechanisms, depending on the asset type. Text works by phrase-overlap: we extract the distinctive phrases from your registered work and score every candidate page search surfaces by how much of that phrase set appears. Images work by perceptual hashing (pHash): your original gets a fingerprint, images found on candidate pages get fingerprinted, and a close hamming distance confirms the same picture even after cropping, resizing, or recompression. Domains use similarity matching against the certificate transparency log. Every confirmed detection carries its evidence with it.
Nothing is filed without your say-so by default. Every detection waits in a review queue where you confirm or dismiss it individually, your own registered domains never flag as infringements, and a gray-zone filter discards weak candidates before they reach you. If you want zero-touch enforcement, you can enable automatic takedowns for high-confidence detections only (95+ scores, which means verified visual matches), the noisy middle band always stays human-reviewed.
Yes, that is precisely what perceptual hashing is for. Exact-hash matching breaks the moment a pixel changes; a perceptual hash survives crops, resizes, format conversion, and recompression because it captures the visual structure rather than the bytes. There are limits, heavy edits that change most of the image will fall outside matching distance, but garden-variety re-upload transformations, which is what most piracy actually is, match reliably.
Automation
Yes, opt-in: enable auto-takedown and any detection scoring 95 or higher (a verified visual match, not a keyword guess) is filed immediately using your plan quota, and you are notified by email. Detections in the gray zone always wait for your confirmation. And critically, auto mode never bills you: if your monthly quota is exhausted, it stops and waits rather than creating a payable case, automation cannot surprise your wallet.
Coverage
Web search results (Google and Bing), YouTube through the official Data API, admin-curated crawl sources covering known pirate and tube sites, and the global Certificate Transparency log stream for domain lookalikes. That covers where stolen content realistically surfaces first: search-indexed pages, video re-uploads, aggregators, and copycat domains. What it does not cover is private or walled-off spaces (private groups, DMs, P2P networks), no monitoring service sees those, and anyone claiming otherwise is selling you a story.
Yes. Search indexes, YouTube, and the certificate transparency log are global by nature, so a copy of your work on a server anywhere tends to show up in the same sources. When a detection is on a foreign-language or foreign-hosted site, the takedown case works the same way: the host and registrar channel exists everywhere, and copyright is automatic across Berne Convention countries without registration.
Alerts
Email with the detection details, plus the dashboard as your running record. Each notification type is individually toggleable in settings, so you can get email for actionable detections and stay quiet on the rest, and developers can register webhooks to push detection events straight into their own systems. We do not send SMS today, if that is a hard requirement for your workflow, tell us and we will prioritize honestly.
Reporting
A live dashboard: every asset with its scan history, every detection with score, source, snippet, and evidence, and your full case ledger with timestamps for everything we did. Detections export through the API, and invoices are generated per payment automatically. What we do not produce today are automated executive summaries or analytics charts, the raw record is complete, the packaging is not built yet.
Setup
You register it with us (paste text or upload the image, that is what creates the fingerprint or phrase set the scanner uses), but no government copyright registration is required for monitoring or for filing DMCA notices. Your work is copyrighted the moment it is fixed in form. Formal registration matters if you ever sue in the US (it unlocks statutory damages), which is a decision for you and a lawyer, not us.
Within your plan's asset limit: Starter covers 10 assets, Pro 50, Business 200, each holding its own scan history. Each notice carries 1–9, 10–25 or 26–50 URLs on one domain by service level, and heavy filers hit automatic volume pricing (10% off at 10 paid notices, 17% at 25). For catalogs in the thousands, that is a conversation rather than a plan tier, contact us and we will scope it against real capacity instead of pretending a self-serve form handles everything.
Pricing
Three monthly tiers, all flat: Starter $5 (weekly scans, 10 assets, 1 included takedown), Pro $10 (daily scans, 50 assets, 4 takedowns, daily domain watch, visual image verification), Business $15 (daily scans, 200 assets, 10 takedowns). Beyond your included quota, extra cases bill at the subscriber rate, 20% off, and volume discounts stack with usage. Cancel anytime; access runs to the end of the cycle.
Free Plan
Yes, and it is genuinely useful: a protection badge with a public certificate page for your domain, one monitored asset with a one-time scan so you can see a real report, and the free watermarking tool. No credit card. It exists partly because a 30-day-verified badge earns one free managed Standard takedown per year, the loyalty program is described on the badges page.
