DMCA Takedowns
Process, timeline, and requirements
Everything you need to know about filing DMCA takedown notices, from initial requirements to final resolution. Learn about our process, timelines, and what to expect.
Timeline & Process
Most takedowns are processed within 24-72 hours for major platforms like Google, Facebook, and Instagram. Smaller websites may take 1-2 weeks. Hosting providers typically respond within 1-7 days. We provide regular updates throughout the process.
Requirements
You need: 1) Proof of ownership (original files, timestamps, registration), 2) URLs of infringing content, 3) Description of your copyrighted work, 4) Your contact information, 5) Good faith statement that use is unauthorized, 6) Statement of accuracy under penalty of perjury.
Acceptable proof includes: original source files with metadata, timestamps showing creation date, copyright registration certificates, published works with your name/watermark, contracts showing ownership transfer, or other documentation establishing your rights.
Pricing
Quick Send is $49 (notice drafted and sent). A fully managed takedown is $99, one site, up to 25 URLs, all four channels included. Urgent priority is $199. Protection subscribers get monthly takedown credits and a 20% subscriber discount on additional filings.
Outcomes
No, and we'd be skeptical of any service that does. Hosts, platforms, registrars and search engines alone decide whether content comes down, and outcomes depend on fair use, licensing, counter-notices and jurisdiction. Our fee pays for the professional work performed: research, statutory-grade drafting, delivery to every applicable channel, and follow-up escalation, all timestamped in your dashboard. Refunds apply before work begins and in cases of non-delivery, see our refund policy.
Process
Yes, you can report multiple URLs of the same copyrighted work in a single takedown notice. However, each unique piece of content (different images, articles, etc.) requires a separate takedown notice.
If rejected, we review the reason and can: 1) Provide additional evidence, 2) Clarify the claim, 3) Appeal the decision, 4) Contact hosting providers, 5) Escalate to legal action if warranted. We work with you to explore all options.
Coverage
We send takedowns to all major platforms including Google, Bing, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Reddit, and thousands of websites and hosting providers worldwide. We handle both search engines and direct website takedowns.
Counter-Notices
If a counter-notice is filed, the platform may restore the content in 10-14 days unless you file a lawsuit. We help you evaluate counter-notices, determine if they're valid, and advise on next steps including potential legal action.
International
Yes, we handle takedowns globally. While DMCA is US law, most international platforms honor DMCA-style requests. For non-compliant sites, we use local copyright laws and procedures in their jurisdiction.
Bulk Processing
Yes, our commercial and enterprise plans are designed for bulk takedowns. We can process hundreds or thousands of URLs efficiently using automated tools while maintaining legal compliance and evidence standards.
Evidence
We collect: screenshots of infringing content, archived copies via Wayback Machine, metadata analysis, reverse image searches, publication dates, and detailed documentation. This evidence strengthens your case and helps with legal proceedings if needed.
Search Engines
We file DMCA notices with Google's search team, which typically processes requests within 24-48 hours. Removed URLs are listed in Google's Transparency Report. This removes search visibility but doesn't remove content from the original website.
Enforcement
We track repeat infringers and can: 1) Report them to platforms for account termination, 2) Contact hosting providers about policy violations, 3) Pursue legal action for willful infringement, 4) Seek damages and attorney fees in court.
Content Types
Yes, we handle cases where only portions of your content are stolen, including: excerpts from articles, cropped images, remixed videos, modified artwork, and substantial similarity cases. The key is proving substantial copying of protected expression.
Anonymous Cases
We can still proceed by targeting: the hosting provider, domain registrar, CDN services, advertising networks, and payment processors. We can also use legal discovery to unmask anonymous infringers when necessary.
Reporting
You receive: real-time dashboard updates, detailed takedown reports, success/failure notifications, evidence documentation, platform responses, timeline tracking, and monthly summary reports with analytics and trends.
Emergency Services
Yes, for urgent cases involving significant harm or commercial damage, we offer expedited processing within 2-6 hours for an additional fee. This includes direct contact with platform representatives and priority handling.
Quality Control
Every case is checked by a human before filing: the sworn statements must be complete, the URLs must match the described work, and obviously lawful uses get flagged back to you before we proceed. We are a professional service, not a law firm, we do not give legal advice, and where a claim needs a lawyer's judgment (complex fair use, licensing disputes), we will tell you that plainly rather than file something weak. You can also dismiss any monitoring detection yourself before it ever becomes a case.

Social Media
Social media platforms have their own reporting systems. We use platform-specific procedures for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, etc. These often process faster than traditional DMCA notices and may result in account penalties for repeat infringers.
